Defibrillators in a Condominium Association (BRF)
Every year, 6,000 people suffer cardiac arrest outside of hospitals in Sweden.
If there is a defibrillator nearby and it can be used within three minutes, up to 75% of lives can be saved! We offer defibrillators for your homeowners’ association so you can feel safe even at home.
Approximately 6,000 people suffer a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital each year in Sweden, which is equivalent to about 15 people per day. If no one takes action, the survival rate is essentially zero. If someone can begin CPR within 1 minute and a defibrillator is available within 3 minutes, the survival rate rises to nearly 75%.
Now that we’re spending significantly more time at home—with most people working from home several days a week—condominiums and homeowners’ associations are just as important as workplaces when it comes to having defibrillators and providing CPR training. Unfortunately, there isn’t an ambulance in the world that can arrive on the scene to perform defibrillation within 3 minutes.
Equip your housing cooperative with a defibrillator!
We receive many inquiries from condominium associations and homeowners’ associations throughout Sweden that want to make their communities heart-safe by purchasing or renting a defibrillator. We can help you with everything from defibrillators to the right type of storage cabinet—and, of course, training.
Most organizations choose to purchase both a defibrillator and some type of cabinet. If the defibrillator is to be mounted outdoors or in an unheated space during the winter, we recommend a heated cabinet. Otherwise, a wall mount or a simpler cabinet is often sufficient.
The vast majority of customers rent both defibrillators and storage cabinets. In that case, there are no additional costs for batteries or electrodes, since the rental period is tailored to their lifespan (unless, of course, you need to use the defibrillator). When the contract expires, most customers choose to sign a new one and receive a brand-new unit. That way, you always have a modern defibrillator with a warranty.
Several models of defibrillators for BRF
We offer several different models of defibrillators.
The most common model is the LifePak CR2, a defibrillator featuring the latest technology that is incredibly user-friendly and includes a pediatric mode that allows you to switch to pediatric use with a single push of a button. The LifePak CR2 has a fast defibrillation time that saves crucial seconds in an emergency. It comes with an 8-year warranty and a full 4 years of battery life, and is easy to mount on the wall using a sleek, modern wall mount. It’s a modern defibrillator with Wi-Fi and 3G, as well as the option to use two languages if needed. With the LIFELINK accessory, you—as the person in charge—can receive a notification when the battery and electrodes need to be replaced, or if the defibrillator has been misplaced.
When you purchase or rent a defibrillator from Life in Mind, the package includes the official defibrillator sign, a first responder kit with scissors and a razor, and free phone support.
Training for Your Homeowners' Association
Training is essential to gain the confidence to use your defibrillator and to be able to start CPR quickly. We offer traditional training in CPR with a defibrillator and first aid, as well as blended learning.
Nowadays, it’s also possible to provide all residents with a web-based introductory course in CPR with a defibrillator and first aid, making it easy and accessible for everyone to learn how to respond in an emergency. This course can be effectively supplemented with a hands-on training session at your facility.
Our defibrillators are available for rent and purchase
As a housing cooperative (BRF) or business, you can purchase or rent any of our defibrillators through our online store. We recommend that all cooperatives make their properties heart-safe. The following is always included when you purchase or rent a defibrillator from us:

- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- How to Use a Defibrillator
- First Aid for Airway Obstruction
- First Aid (L-ABC)

Follow up with a hands-on exercise for one or more groups (max. 15 participants per session). Price: starting at 3,900 SEK.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need to have a defibrillator in our condominium association?
No, there is still no legal requirement for associations or companies to have defibrillators. A proposal has been submitted to the government to require defibrillators in buildings that accommodate a certain number of people. Many condominium associations are nevertheless choosing to invest in a defibrillator to increase the chances of survival in the event of cardiac arrest at home.
How often does the defibrillator need to be checked?
The vast majority of AEDs perform regular self-tests and issue a warning or alert if something is wrong, or if the battery or electrodes need to be replaced. We also recommend performing a regular manual check of the AED—where you verify that the AED is mounted where it should be and that the status indicator is green or shows “OK.”
How much does defibrillator support cost?
When your housing cooperative rents or purchases a defibrillator from Life in Mind, free phone support is included, and if the defibrillator requires service during the warranty period, this is of course covered.
Are defibrillators a tax-deductible expense?
Yes, both defibrillators and CPR training are tax-deductible for businesses.
Do we need to take a training course—after all, the defibrillator tells us what to do, doesn't it?
All defibrillators provide voice prompts, but knowing how to use a defibrillator without regular practice is often difficult when you are suddenly faced with a person who appears to be unresponsive. In addition, continuous CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) without interruption, in combination with the defibrillator, is required for the person to have a chance of survival. Taking a CPR training course when purchasing a defibrillator is therefore strongly recommended, so that the defibrillator can serve its purpose and you can feel confident.
Help and Support
The defibrillator should be easily accessible and must always be in working order. We’ll, of course, help you with placement and signage, as well as keeping track of when it’s time for battery replacements and refresher training.
We're always just a phone call away if you have any questions or need help.
Heart-Safe Zone
The standard is designed to ensure that organizations are well-prepared for sudden cardiac arrest by providing recommendations for training, placement, information, and maintenance of the defibrillator. We help you meet the requirements for a “heart-safe zone,” and the package includes a framed certificate, stickers, and a digital banner for use on your website or in email signatures, for example.
BFHS
As part of our quality assurance process, we are, of course, members of BFHS (the Swedish Industry Council for Defibrillators). The Industry Council is a supplier- and brand-independent non-profit association for defibrillators and public education, and works to improve survival rates in cases of cardiac arrest.
